University of Georgia DEP-1 Chiller Addition

DEP-1 is located in the Northwest Precinct on the campus of The University of Georgia (Athens, Georgia) near the intersection of Newton Street & Baxter Street. This was the first phase of expansion to DEP-1 which was originally constructed in 2010. This project included all labor, materials, and equipment required to install one new 2,000 Ton electric centrifugal chiller system complete with new chilled water and condenser water pump, new roof-mounted cooling towers, new chemical feed and filtration systems, 5kV and 480V electrical systems, and associated plumbing. The DEP-1 provided chilled water generation for 4,000 tons capacity at the conclusion of this project. Additionally, this project included provisions for the eventual full build-out of 10,000 tons capacity for DEP-1. The addition of a cross-connect hoist beam, maintenance platform, various valve rotations, rainwater cistern and RO system modifications, and condensate return piping adjustments were included to help improve access and function.
