Monroe County Schools Stanley Switlik Elementary School

This project encompasses the partial replacement and renovations to an existing school, reconfigured and added parking areas and the addition of a bus maintenance facility totaling 87,554 SF.

The current two story administration building will be demolished and replaced by two buildings, a single story administration building and a two story classroom building. Another existing two story classroom building and the cafeteria building will be renovated. New construction is to be tilt wall panels with standing seam and metal roofs, impact windows and state of the art audio/visual systems in each classroom utilizing promethean boards and teaching walls. The site will be raised five feet above current conditions to address storm surge and potential flooding issues in the Florida Keys. The existing school will remain occupied and operational during construction requiring a multi-phased construction sequence.

CURRENT STATUS (as of 6/3/19)

Canopy columns and footers at entrance to building 1 are poured. Building 1 entry ramp walls are in progress. FKEC tie in underground work is complete across 33rd street. Sheetrock finishing is nearing completion east of the fire wall. Sheetrock installation west of fire wall is on going. Aluminum window frame exteriors have been caulked. All hollow metal frames have been installed. MEP rough in inspections are complete. Fire Sprinkler rough in inspection is complete. Fascia break metal is 90% complete. Standing Seam roof panel installation will begin this week. 1st floor interior wall framing is 90% complete. 1st floor window frames are in place. 1st floor MEP rough in is 60% complete. 1st floor MDF and Electrical room walls have been sheet rocked and painted.
