FL Department of Ag. Bronson Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory

Ajax has been selected to expand the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services Bronson Animal Diagnostic Laboratory in Central Florida.  This facility houses the Division of Animal Industry which is responsible for enforcing animal health regulations in Florida, as well as protecting the state from animal pests and diseases which could have major economic and public health consequences.

Ajax will construct a new office/laboratory facility on a forested site adjacent to the existing laboratory complex.  The new facility will include laboratory space for virology, bacteriology, serology, histology, IHC, clinical pathology, and lab equipment compatible with BSL-2 guidelines.  In addition, new utilities, parking, and storm water provisions will be included.  New covered walkways connecting the new building with the existing building will tie the two together.  Finally, the site is also being designed for a possible future expansion for emergency vehicle storage.

Throughout the month of November; exterior windows has been installed and interior metal framing is 90% complete. Grading of the swale was accomplished, as bahia hydroseed was sprayed in the area. Installation and flushing of fire line has been executed. Drywall top-out along the corridor, Mechanical room and Electrical room is underway. Coordination of mechanical, electrical plumbing and fire protection hangers is in progress; as hanging of fire sprinklers has begun. The parking lot sub-base has been mixed and compacted; placement of curb and first lift of asphalt is forthcoming. Exterior metal framing has started and installation of the storefront will follow.
