Florida A & M University Recreation Center

Ajax Building Corporation completed the first phase of this $6.8 million building that serves as a recreational facility for the faculty and students of Florida A&M University. The three-story, 39,000 SF structure provides adequate space for intramural and recreational sports, fitness and nutrition offices, as well as intramural and recreational programs. This facility also includes spaces for meeting rooms and a wide variety of other recreational activities. The building contains a fitness training area for free weights, cardiovascular machines, selectorized weight equipment, aerobic/martial arts/dance studios, raised jogging track, sauna and whirlpool and locker rooms.

Through Ajax ’s implementation of an Owner’s Direct Purchase program, approximately $60,000 in construction material cost was saved in the first phase of the project.
