The current 225,000 SF Cherokee County Adult Detention Center facilities were completed in 2002, but an expansion is required in order to keep up with the County’s growing needs. Cherokee County is one of the fastest growing counties not only in Georgia, but in the nation.
This project will provide an additional 110,915 SF of expansion and renovations. These new features will include a 583-bed housing tower consisting of precast concrete modular cells with structural precast walls and floors, load bearing CMU, and elevated cast-in-place concrete, a secondary warming kitchen, additional laundry space, a complete replacement of the existing security system and upgrading the video visitation system by replacing existing analog cameras with HD digital cameras. There will be 21 total dayrooms specially designed for indirect supervision from elevated control towers and 3 exercise yards. Also, the access roadway around the new and existing facilities will be extended.
